PORTRAIT OF JENNIE
The Inspiration
‘Portrait of Jennie’ is a black-and-white film about a time-travel romance that has become a cult classic. It tells the story of a young girl, Jennie, who meets Adam, an artist in NYC. Magic unfolds when he draws her portrait.
Inspired by this, we imagined Jennie wandering the streets of Hong Kong to find the person destined to wear these boots. We chose locations to match the boot design, adding a touch of playful mischief and charm.
Robert Nathan, an American writer, wrote Portrait of Jennie.
Published in 1940, this was a modern fantasy classic. It was made into a film in 1948, with cinematographer Joseph August and director William Dieterle. Their movie won an Oscar for special effects.
The film Portrait of Jennie inspires the magical tone and setting of these scenes.
